Thanks to everyone who attended Superseminar today. It was great showing you a glimpse behind the design fiction curtain and I really enjoyed the engaging and lively conversation. Can’t wait to do it again.
In 1988, the movie "They Live" presented a dystopian vision where a man discovers sunglasses that reveal the world as it truly is - controlled and manipulated by alien forces. Fast forward to this timeline, and I can't help but draw parallels as I reflect on my recent encounter with Rayban's Singularity Proof Sunglasses.
This world, much like the one in "They Live," is layered with digital augmentations. The AR billboards, holographic ads, and personalized marketing that blend into our urban landscapes are not governed by alien overlords but by corporations vying for our attention and data.
The Singularity Proof Sunglasses strip away this digital facade, revealing the raw, unenhanced world. It's a jarring experience - one that forces us to confront the extent to which AR has infiltrated our daily lives.
Ok that's good to know thx. I'm fast approaching working out an example to include in this dissertation; so would love to to try those out and document the approach you've developed as exemplar extraordinaire. I'm looking to show off a DF outcome relevant to this Novella I've written to include in it. (I continued that MIND::STACK::SWITCH short into 3 acts. Turns out the Novella had a special place back in the Renaissance for commentary and "surfacing of the things" people didn't want to see or talk about; yet could encounter in the safe haven of the fictive...).
It would be an interesting idea if the entire novella could be fed into GPT and it shot out several images of possible Design Fiction examples (based on some training on how to go about picking out bits of the prose - some context on the story and then last direct exposure to the fictive prose....even to simply ask it to "illustrate the story" in x pictures per Act.....hmmm.
Hey Dré - well rendered and the copy is so matter of fact - enjoyed this one!! (and many others like finding the creativity podman (pocketpal) ! These images are getting very tight drawing me in as designed - using midjourney or combo of software? (I'm still following out here, but deep deep into dissertation land - the horizon is springtime...if I live through the winter of my soul ; ))
