A press release from Variety announcing a new Oscar Award Category for user ThoughtCraft.
The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences (AMPAS) announced today that they are considering adding a new awards category to the Oscars to recognize user-generated movie plots, storylines, and performances. The new category would honor the best user-generated content created using the revolutionary ThoughtCraft headset.
The ThoughtCraft headset, developed by Neuralflix, allows users to control and shape the story of a movie simply by thinking. The device is equipped with advanced brain-monitoring technology, allowing users to create their own unique movie experiences in real time.
“We are very excited about the potential for this new category and the innovative technology behind the ThoughtCraft headset,” said AMPAS President, David Rubin. “User-generated content has become an increasingly important part of the entertainment industry, and we believe that recognizing the best of this content with an Oscar is a natural next step.”
The new category, which is still in the early stages of development, would be open to all films and performances created using the ThoughtCraft headset. A panel of judges would be responsible for selecting the winners in each category.
“We believe that the ThoughtCraft headset has the potential to revolutionize the movie industry, and we are thrilled to be at the forefront of this movement,” said Neuralflix CEO, John Smith. “We look forward to seeing the amazing and creative work that emerges from this new category at the Oscars.”
The new awards category is expected to be introduced at the next Academy Awards ceremony, pending approval by the AMPAS Board of Governors.
