As I was flicking through a copy of Green Pages magazine, the top authority for what's new and next in Hollywood, I came across an ad for something called EmoLink. This cutting-edge Brain-Computer Interface (BCI) allows actors to tap into any emotion on the spot, using a library of data models available for subscription. They're also developing a range of accent and language packs that can help actors enhance their performances and often nail scenes in a single take.
Of course, it's not without its share of controversy. Despite getting the green light from SAG, the FDA, and the FCC, there's a sizeable crowd in the industry that turns up their noses at such devices. Actors who use them, endearingly referred to as "scriptoids", often find themselves on the receiving end of some uninvited attention, with their productions regularly picketed.
As for my two cents, I'm all in. Ever since A24 gobbled up Microsoft a few years ago (still in your future, sorry for the spoiler) and morphed into Ai24 with Clippy at the helm of their film production, they've been churning out a continuous stream of top-notch, generated films featuring the crème de la crème of hybrid actors. Who could forget the year they snagged every single Oscar award? (Not much of a shock, they were the only film company nominated.)
Anyway, I'd better dash back to the janky time machine and return to my primeline—I've got dinner to make!
Humans' only future job would be as lazy masturbating couch potatoes, provided we get paid for it.
Talk about an idea that's released way, way before it's ready!
