As I found myself with some spare time in the janky time machine, I decided to sync my Kindle and catch up on my ever-growing reading list. To my surprise, in this timeline, all books are completely free. However, there is a catch - inline advertising.
In this era, artificial intelligence is everywhere and effortlessly generates ads tailored to the content of the book you're reading. The seamless integration of these ads often makes it difficult to distinguish them from the actual narrative. I experienced this first-hand while revisiting a classic, Darwin's Theory of Evolution, only to be suddenly immersed in a Taco Bell Dip'n Dots promotion. I quickly realized the anachronism and LOL’ed out loud. I suppose that’s the price you pay when everything is free.
