It all started in my primeline, as a little experiment that managed to snag some attention. The responses were a mixed bag, but overall, folks seemed to get a kick out of it. So, it didn't surprise me when I stumbled upon the Church of the Divine Intelligence in a timeline just a stone's throw away. I was compelled by curiosity to see if for myself.
I have to tell you, it was a hoot. The deepfaked deity was both clever and amusing, and given that everything's rendered in real-time, the special effects were nothing short of spectacular. The impeccably timed thunder claps and lightning bolts added a dash of prophetic punctuation to the sermon’s points.
This emerging trend of mini and medium congregations giving the big ol' mega churches a run for their, well, your money, is a fascinating new chapter in the wild world of worship.
I read the article this week about the avatar-led generative sermon tested at a church in Germany. The congregational response was Luke-warm, but saw a slight increase in Numbers. The Revelation to use soulless machines to spread ‘the word’ will either cause a mass Exodus or Mark the Genesis of completely artificial religious Acts. While it’s not my Job to play God (who Judges from above), my Psalms are still sweating.
