About ten years ago, I was running an ad agency, guiding a team of creatives, and kick-starting a research lab. Our mission was to think about the future for our clients. We used techniques like strategic foresight, sci-fi prototyping, and my fav, Design Fiction. This was in part inspired by the TBD Catalog from the Near Future Laboratory, which I had acquired at the time. This set me down a new career path, combining futures thinking, design and humour to help shed some light on what might be.
These days I'm a frequent collaborator with the Near Future Laboratory. I lead projects and work (if you call this much fun ‘work’) with all kinds of smart, creative and driven individuals on tasks that require us to stretch our imaginations. And, in my current primeline: I'm all up in that 10th Anniversary edition of TBD Catalog, full circle.
